How to Set a Luggage Lock (Combination Lock & TSA)

Wie Sie ein Kofferschloss einstellen (Kombinationsschloss & TSA)

Before you start adjusting your combination lock yourself, you should check the interior of your luggage for enclosed instructions. These are often found in the inner mesh or one of the inner pockets. Generally, there are two different types of locks, which you can set using different procedures.

Suitcase lock with push button

For the first setting procedure, there is a small push button on the top or bottom edge of the combination lock. Press this in with a pointed object, such as a ballpoint pen. Then you can set your desired number combination using the wheels in the suitcase lock. During the setting process, the wheels will probably be harder to turn than you are used to when opening. After you have set the desired number combination, press the button to open the suitcase lock. The small push button will now return to its original position and your combination has been successfully saved.

Suitcase lock without push button

If your suitcase lock does not have a push button on the top or bottom edge, proceed as follows. Hold down the button to open the combination lock while you set your desired combination using the wheels. Similar to the first setting procedure, the wheels will also be a little more difficult to operate here. When setting, make sure to hold the button down all the way. Otherwise, the number combination may be inadvertently adjusted. Once you have set your code, release the button to open the lock. Et voilà – your code has been saved.
